VFW Post 9241 believes in Americanism and a commitment to duty, honor, and country.

"Americanism is an unfailing love of country; loyalty to its institutions and ideals; eagerness to defend it against all enemies; undivided allegiance to the flag; and a desire to secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and posterity."

The Post is an all-volunteer organization.  It has no employees.  All of its work is done by unpaid Post members, members of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Post, and non-member volunteers.  In addition to carrying out its ongoing programs, it supports itself from the dues paid by its members (about 4%-5%), various fund-raising activities, and donations.  The Post is a California nonprofit corporation and a charitable tax-exempt organization under the provisions of Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(19) and California Revenue and Taxation Code Section 23701w.

VFW PARK

The Post also owns outright the 10-acre Charles W. Wilkinson Veterans Park at 3000 Veterans Way in Georgetown.  The Park has a utility building for food and beverage serving, a large in-ground barbeque pit, picnic areas, large rest rooms, a large wooden deck for dancing, five RV hookups, areas for tent camping, and a large parking lot.

The Park is made available to the public on terms and conditions similar to those for the Hall.

Veterans Remembrance Wall

We are proud to have established the Veterans Remembrance Wall, a small but impressive structure located at the corner of the Park at the intersection of Wentworth Springs Road and Eaton Way. The Wall honors all veterans with bricks engraved with their names, branch of service, and area or period of service.

A minimum contribution of $30.00 is required for each engraved brick.  Currently, there are about 520 bricks in the Wall and there is room for about 80 more bricks.

Click on "Contact Us" on the left side of this page, ask us for an application form for a remembrance brick, and we'll be happy to send one to you.

Color Guard

The Post's Color Guard performs funeral or memorial services for all veterans upon request, leads the Georgetown Founders Day and Garden Valley Fourth of July parades, and leads the Georgetown Christmas Parade of Lights.

In addition, each Memorial Day the Color Guard performs ceremonies for veterans buried within seven local cemeteries on the Georgetown Divide, a tradition spanning over 25 year, performs at Golden Sierra High School football games, and performs at other civic and patriotic activities throughout the year.
